To be a cowboy often means living a life away from the crowd. Rangelands by necessity are often semi-isolated large tracts of land suitable for the grazing of cattle herds. The beauty and tranquility of the wide open spaces are part of the pay off for the life that a cowboy lives.
One of the other benefits in being a cowboy is the company of their animal friends. The respect and concern for their lives and welfare are both an economic and emotional necessity.
Working dogs spend their entire day in service and companionship. Their devotion and ambition are legendary. And what barn would be complete without the presence of a barn cat? They too, are an integral part of the ranch family of critters and folks. |
